Marquette, MI – The Nashville Predators collapsed on Thursday night as they fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-0 in game five with Pittsburgh now taking a 3-2 series lead. Predators goalie Pekka Rinne was pulled after allowing three goals on nine shots and Sidney Crosby had three assists for the Penguins. Pittsburgh will now have a chance to become the first franchise since the Detroit Red Wings to win back to back Stanley Cups, they will look to closeout the series on Sunday when they game begins at 8 pm in Pittsburgh.
The Detroit Tigers struggled once again on Thursday afternoon, starting out with a three run lead then losing 11-4 to the Los Angeles Angels. Angels Eric Young Jr. had three hits and scored three runs followed by Danny Espinosa who added three hits and three RBI. Tigers pitcher Michael Fulmer struggled allowing five runs and nine hits in four and a third inning of work.
The Milwaukee Brewers tied the game up in the ninth to send the game to extras but the San Francisco Giants proved to be too much for the Brew Crew as the Giants scored four runs in the 10th to win 9-5 on Thursday afternoon. Giants Kelby Tomlinson had an infield single to start the inning that led to Hunter Pence driving in a run as the 10th inning slipped away from the Brewers. Brewers Eric Thames and Eric Sogard homered in the contest.
