Marquette, MI – 1/4/18 – Marquette Redmen Head Hockey Coach Doug Garrow stopped in this morning to talk about his teams big win over Saline this past Saturday in overtime and preview what’s coming up for the rest on January. The Redmen tonight will be at Lakeview Arena taking on their cross-town rival the Negaunee Miners. The Miners are in a bit of a struggle this year with a record of 1-9 and coming off a loss to Petoskey this past weekend 10-2. Game-time will be at 7 pm tonight with John Thomsen, Joe Gaffney and Ryan Ranguette. After tonight the Redmen will be back in action next weekend for the North-South Showcase in Traverse City.
The Silver Badger Bill Tibor stopped by this morning to go over his picks for this weeks NFL Playoffs. Luke Ghiardi is the current leader in picks with a five game lead over Ryan and a two game lead over the Silver Badger. Games will begin on Saturday with two games and concur on Sunday with the other two games.
The Detroit Red Wings got a much needed overtime win last night as they defeated the Ottawa Senators 2-1 on the offense proved by Andreas Athanasiou. Athanasiou scored both of the Red Wings goals and scored 6 seconds into overtime tying the NHL record of fastest goal in overtime in the regular season. The Red Wings will be back on Friday as they welcome in the Florida Panthers.
