Marquette, MI – 9/26/17 – The Marquette Redmen football team travled to Petoskey on Friday to take on the Northmen. The Redmen came into the game at 1-3 on the season and coming in off a loss to Escanaba were looking to get back on track. The Redmen led by running back Drew Gale and quarterback Brendan Kaski came out victorious in the final minute winning the game 27-26. Drew Gale ran for 203 yards and two touchdowns and also added a receiving touchdown. Quarterback Brendan Kaski had another solid game throwing for over 150 yards and connected with Ethan Martyz for an 83 yard touchdown play. The Redmen now look to this coming Friday for the homecoming game against the Kingsford Flivvers.
The Michigan Wolverines picked up another victory on Saturday against the Purdue Boilermakers 28-10. Back-up quarterback John O’Korn took over for Wilton Speight after an injury and led the Wolverines to victory. The Michigan defense was the main story as Purdue only managed 10 yards and one first quarter in the second half. The Wolverines will have a bye week this coming weekend before they take on Michigan State next Saturday.
The Detroit Lions came up short on the last play of the game to lose to the Atlanta Falcons 30-26. Detroit never led in the game, but failed to put together another comeback in the fourth quarter and are now 2-1 on the season. The Green Bay Packers came out victorious in overtime over the Cincinnati Bengals at home with a 27-24 come from behind victory. The Packers are now 2-1 on the season and play this coming Thursday against the Chicago Bears.
