1st Half
Marquette won the tip-off and they were the first to get on the board. Marquette took the early lead, 4-0, but the Miners were quick to tie the score. The offensive battle kept going between the teams, and the fouls were in favor 2-0 for the Miners, but the Redmen took the first quarter lead with a score of 12-11.
The second quarter sang a similar tune to the first, but the teams instead played a defensive battle. The score remained tight, and the Redmen took the 24-18 lead going into half time.
2nd Half
Negaunee had possession of the ball to start the third quarter. Marquette played a full court press defense this period and really put the pressure on the Miners. The quarter was a clean one with no fouls. With some cheering from their student section, the Redmen took the lead 43-29 going into the last quarter.
Things got a little rougher in the last quarter, with the final foul count 8-9 in favor of Marquette. Negaunee was able to close the lead quite a bit, but not enough. The Redmen came out victorious from this close battle with a final score of 55-47.
