
1st Quarter: Marquette would open up the scoring after the tip-off with Maria Millado driving into the lane and making a tough layup. Chloe Hanson would give the Braves’ first points of the night by driving into the paint for a shot off the glass. After a 4-2 start, the Gladstone would go on a 8-0 run. Mayce Hanson would contribute to the Braves run with a 3-pointer hitting nothing but net. Millado would break the run by driving into the lane and making a tough shot over Gladstone’s Veronica Hall, making the score 10-6 with under 3 minutes left in the period. Julia Ott would cut the lead to 2 points by driving into the lane and making a layup in traffic. The Braves would end the first quarter making a free throw and a jump shot.
End of 1st: Marquette 8, Gladstone 13

2nd Quarter: Millado would open the scoring again for the quarter by driving into the lane, making a layup. The Redettes would almost immediately get into foul trouble putting the Braves into the bonus. The Braves’ Van Ginhoven takes advantage of the space given by Marquette and making a 3-pointer. Millado looks stop the bleeding by driving into the lane, making the layup, and drawing a foul. Julia Ott would cut the lead down to one point by sinking 2 crucial free throws from a shooting foul, Braves leading 16-15. Millado would give Marquette the lead with under two minutes to go by making 2 free throws from a shooting foul as well. The Braves would retake the lead with a 3-pointer by Hanson and closes the half on top 22-19.
End of 2nd: Marquette 22, Gladstone 19

3rd Quarter: The Redettes would start off the second half when Meghan MacPhee gets a ball in the paint and gets an open layup for the 2 points. MacPhee would score again with blocking a shot, running down the court, and getting the ball in the paint for another shot off the glass, putting Marquette up 23-22. Millado would copy her teammates 4 points by getting herself two made jump shots and extending the lead to 5 points over the Braves. The Redettes defense would hold strong throughout the third quarter with key blocks by Millado and MacPhee. They would hold the Braves to two points for the entire quarter. MacPhee would make a buzzer beater fade away shot and put the Redettes up by 5.
End of 3rd: Marquette 29, Gladstone 24

4th Quarter: Millado showed off her dribbling skills driving into the lane and making a nice jump shot. Off a couple of Redette turnovers, the Braves would make two field goals cutting the lead to 3 points. Millado would again make sure their lead would stay intact by grabbing an offensive rebound and making the shot. Ella Jezewski would get her first points of the game by driving into the paint, making the shot, and drawing a shooting foul. That would give Marquette their biggest lead of the night at 7 points. The Braves, however would claw their way back to being down by two points. With under 3 minutes left to play in the game, Zoe Smith would make a clutch 3-pointer giving the Redettes a 5 point lead and a much needed cushion. With both teams in the bonus, the Braves refused to foul the Redettes, with the clock ticking down to 20 seconds, Gladstone finally elected to foul Marquette. Marquette had the chance to put the game away three times with 3 bonus fouls, but would end up missing all of them. The Braves were unable to come away with any points in the games final 10 seconds.
End of Game: Marquette 40, Gladstone 35
The Joe Boogren Player of the Game went to Maria Millado with her game high 21 points.
