Traverse City West High School – December 16th, 2016 – It was another frigid night when the Marquette Redettes were down in Traverse City to do battle on the court with the Titans of Traverse City West. Marquette took the opening tip, and started off the offense immediately. They soon found themselves with a 6-2 lead with three minutes gone from the clock. With just sixty seconds to go in the first, Marquette continued to lead 11-5, but TC West looked to come back.First Quarter Score

The Marquette Redettes had a strong start to the opening quarter, but the TC West Titans started a comeback. The Titans quickly scored five points and were only behind by a single point. Marquette scored next, but TC West was able to tie the game at 13-13 midway through the quarter. Something clicked however with the Redettes, and they started to play some better defense. By the end of the first half of play, Marquette had fought their way to a nine point lead.

It was an up and down first half for the Marquette Redettes, however, they held onto their lead for the first minute of the third period. Soon it was 31-19, and Marquette looked to continue to extend their lead. It was becoming somewhat of a rough game, and there were several jump balls from scrums on the floor. The Titans fought tooth and nail, but were unable to close the gap in the score, and Marquette held the lead 40-25 with just under three minutes left in the third quarter. They were able to hold a significant lead going into the final quarter.

The Marquette Redettes basketball team held a convincing lead going into the final quarter, but the game wasn’t over yet. It was a very physical second half of play, and the fouls started to pile up for the TC West Titans. Throughout the rest of the game, it was mainly a defensive affair for Marquette, and they were able to keep even with the Titans, with both teams scoring 10 in the final quarter.
