Redmen Basketball Starts New Year with a 67-49 Victory Over Flivvers
- Updated: January 3, 2019

Marquette, MI – January 3, 2019 – The Marquette Redmen basketball team toppled the Kingsford Flivvers with a 67-49 win at home on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and 103 FXD.
The Redmen started 2019 with a bang tonight. Their victory over Kingsford puts them in first place in the Great Northern Conference with a 3-0 GNC record, 7-2 overall. Marquette couldn’t look any stronger as they enter the second half of their 2018-2019 season.
The Redmen took the lead early in the first period. The Flivvers put up a fight, but Marquette cultivated a 10 point lead for a score of 17-7 at the buzzer.
Marius Grazulis racked up the points early in the game, with 14 points at the half.
It wasn’t just Grazulis with a high-scoring game. Bryce Brazeau had 10 points and John Thomson had 8 in the first half. The Redmen went into the 3rd period with a 34-15 lead over the Flivvers.
The second half was just as dominant as the first. The only hiccup of the night came as Grazulis got into a little foul trouble with four fouls toward the end of the game. The Redmen weren’t phased, however, and the tidy 67-49 win was never truly in jeopardy.
Grazulis had a whopping 29 points overall. Brazeau and Thomson improved to 16 and 14 points overall respectively.
The Marquette Redmen will be at home against Menominee on Friday, January 11th on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9. Pregame starts at 6:45 pm, tip off is at 7:15 pm.
