Redettes Fall to Eskymos in Softball Season Finale
- Updated: May 24, 2018

Marquette, MI – May 24, 2018 – In what was supposed to be a doubleheader between the Marquette Redettes and Escanaba Eskymos softball teams to end the regular season Thursday, mother nature had to limit it to one game. The game was also originally scheduled to be played at Hurley field, but the rain on Thursday afternoon caused the location to be moved to Lions Field. It was there that the Escanaba Eskymos defeated the Marquette Redettes 11-0 in five innings, in what was the one and only game.
The Eskymos got off to a hot start against Marquette pitcher Megan McIntire. The Eskymos plated 5 runs in the opening frame and never looked back. After allowing only two runs in the 2nd and getting a quick out in the third, McIntire allowed home runs to Lexi Chailler and two batters later, to Taylor Gauthier. This busted the doors open and put the game out of reach.
The game may have been out of reach after the first inning regardless, with Gabby Salo in the circle for Escanaba. Salo pitched a complete-game no hitter on Tuesday against Gladstone and was in the circle again against the Redettes. The Redettes mustered a couple of hits off Salo, but never really threatened. Salo went 4 innings pitched, struck out 8 Redettes batters, and allowed 0 runs.
The Redettes regular season comes to an end with the District Tournament upcoming. Marquette will be back in action Friday, June 1st taking on Alpena at Traverse City West High School.
