Redettes Basketball Brings Home 48-34 Victory Over Flivvers
- Updated: December 20, 2018

Marquette, MI – December 20, 2018 – The Marquette Redettes Basketball team clobbered the Flivvers at Kingsford tonight with a 48-34 win on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
The Redettes’ defense played a huge role in tonight’s win, as did a solid offensive game across the board.
The Redettes pulled out front early in the first quarter with a 6-2 lead over the Flivvers.
The Flivvers did find their footing as the period went on, and there was some back and forth for a little while.
Marquette stayed in control, however, and the Redettes cultivated an 18-12 lead to carry them into the second quarter.
The Flivvers struggled to improve their offensive game as the Redettes’ defense allowed only four points in the entire second period.
Avery Ledy fired off a triple which put Marquette in a double-digit lead for the first time in the game.
Sydney Kivi had a big second quarter as she took advantage of an and one opportunity to get the Redettes up to a 15-point lead.
Madison Carter really wanted to put the nail in the coffin before the second half. She had a two-pointer at the buzzer to improve Marquette to 33-16 over the Flivvers.
The Redettes continued to take the hammer to the Flivvers in the third quarter.
The Flivvers were more aggressive in the second half, getting Marquette into a little foul trouble to start.
The Redettes’ defense could not be stopped though, and Marquette’s defense allowed only 10 points over the second and third periods.
The Redettes went into the fourth quarter with a 42-22 lead over the Flivvers.
The Flivvers had a spark of energy at the top of the fourth with a 6-0 scoring run. A much stronger Kingsford team was present throughout the final period, but it was too little too late.
Sydney Kivi was our top scorer of the night with 17 points overall. Avery Ledy had 11 points, Madison Carter had 8, Aspen Michelin had 6, and Rachael Hunt and Reegan Katzenberger had 2 points each.
Marquette’s 48-34 win over Kingsford improves the Redettes’ Great Northern Conference record to 2-0 as 2018 comes to a close. The Redettes improve to 6-0 overall against the Flivvers over the last few years.
The Redettes will be at Escanaba on Tuesday, January 8th on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9. Pregame starts at 6:45 pm, tip off is at 7:15 pm.
