The Marquette Redmen Hockey Team (7) Faces-off with the Hancock Bulldogs (0) Wednesday Night on 103-FXD
- Updated: February 13, 2019
Marquette, Michigan – February 13th, 2019 – Marquette Redmen were on their home ice Wednesday night to bring you exciting Hockey action against the Hancock Bulldogs. Two more feet of fresh, powdery snow on the ground didn’t stop fans from cheering on their Redmen at the Lakeview Arena with 103-FXD!
It was a very physical game right from the first puck drop, and the Marquette Redmen were called for two penalties before the halfway mark of the first period. Marquette went on their second power play of the evening with just minutes left in the second, and they took full advantage of the extra skater, putting the second goal of the game in the net. Right before the first buzzer, Marquette had another penalty called on them, which was their third one of the period.
First Period Score
Marquette Redmen: 2
Hancock Bulldogs: 0
The Marquette Redmen continued to have an excellent game, and just two minutes into the second period, Gaetanno Cammarata scored Marquette’s third goal on a nice rebound shot. Kobi Guidebeck went end to end to put the Redmen’s fourth goal of the game in the net after juking through two defenders. The Bulldogs started to get frustrated, and they were called for a their third penalty of the game midway through the second period. A cross-check penalty on Hancock gave the Redmen a five on three advantage, but they were unable to convert the opportunity into a goal as the period ended with a 4-0 Marquette lead.
Second Period Score
Marquette Redmen: 4
Hancock Bulldogs: 0
With a healthy lead going into the final period, the Marquette Redmen just had to play smart and avoid penalties in order to take home the win. It was a quiet start to the period, much like the others, but the Redmen looked content to control the puck and not allow the Bulldogs any chances to score. At 4:50 into the third, Marquette was called for a high-sticking penalty, their fourth of the game. Marquette picked up a short-handed goal, but things got rough immediately after the goal, resulting in two Bulldogs players going to the box. That power play resulted in the Redmen’s sixth goal of the game, giving them some extra breathing room for the final minutes. A bit later, Dylan Baldwin scored his first goal as a Marquette Redmen varsity hockey player on an even-strength breakaway after a nice clear from their zone. The final minutes of the game were very quiet as both teams accepted the outcome of the game.
Final Game Score
Marquette Redmen: 7
Hancock Bulldogs: 0
