The Redmen stayed on top of the Eskymos, making some quality attempts on goal. It wasn’t long before Ryan Baldwin found the back of the net again to improve to 2-0 at the bottom of the first period. It was a five-on-three goal in the first minute of a five-minute major penalty served by Escanaba.

Andrew Fedrizzi rounded out the period with a goal at one minute to go. Fedrizzi was assisted by Thomas Dunleavy and Tanner Phillips for a score of 3-0 going into the second period.

Marquette began the second period finishing out a power play, but the first half remained scoreless. The Redmen were in full control throughout, however, taking 17 shots on goal to Escanaba’s three.

A bit of a scuffle on the ice made things interesting in the last few minutes of the period, resulting in a penalty on Marquette and the first power play of the game for Escanaba. The Redmen made quick work of the penalty kill, however, and a Sean O’Connor goal assisted by Thomas Dunleavy gave Marquette a 4-0 lead over the Eskymos.

A good portion of the third period was scoreless as Escanaba goalie Trevor Denome denied several high-quality attempts from Marquette to hold the Redmen at bay. The Redmen looked to be having a lot of fun though, and remained relaxed as the victory inched closer in the final minutes.

A Dylan Baldwin goal, assisted by Tanner Phillips and Hogan Nemetz, brought the Redmen to their final score of 5-0 over the Eskymos to become the Regional Champs.
