Redmen Hockey Charges to 4-0 Victory Over Kingsford Flivvers
- Updated: January 22, 2019

Marquette, MI – January 22, 2019 – The Marquette Redmen Varsity Hockey team took the Kingsford Flivvers to task at home tonight with a 4-0 victory on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
The first period started out a little slow, at least by Marquette’s standards. Sean O’Connor scored a power play goal at the 5:41 mark for a lead of 1-0 over Kingsford.
A couple of clutch saves from Flivvers goalie Trevor Anderson denied the Redmen from adding to their score.
The Redmen really kicked it into gear as the period continued. Though the score remained at 1-0, the Flivvers struggled to make a decent play in Redmen territory. Marquette had ten shots on goal to Kingsford’s two.
Marquette didn’t waste any time in the second period.
O’Connor scored his second goal of the evening within 10 seconds. Gaetanno Cammarata and Jakob Peterson assisted and the Redmen were up 2-0 over the Flivvers just like that.
At about 10 minutes in Nick Leafers scored a power play goal, with Thomas Dunleavy and Ryan Baldwin assisting, to improve the Redmen to 3-0 going into the third.
The Redmen skated out strong in the final period. Kingsford goaltender Trevor Anderson was the only thing stopping Marquette from racking up the goals.
Finally, Jakob Peterson broke in with another Marquette power play goal for a final score of 4-0. Gaetanno Cammarata assisted once again.
The Redmen have won ten consecutive games, and five of the last seven have been shutouts.
The Redmen will hit the ice again on Friday, January 25th against Port Huron Northern on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and 103 FXD. Pregame starts at 5:30 pm, the puck drops at 6:00 pm.
