Marquette Redmen Hockey Defeat Escanaba Eskymos 6-1 on 97.5 GTO

Marquette, MIDecember 3rd, 2019Marquette Redmen Varsity Hockey team played host to the Escanaba Eskymos Tuesday night on 97.5 GTO. They came out with a nice win of 6-1 over the Eskymos!

The Redmen started strong in the first period. Junior Ethan Phillips scored an early goal on an assist from freshman Joseph Luke.  The Eskymos held their ground however and had the jump on the Redmen in the face off circle.

The two teams started to trade blows in the second period. Marquette scored another goal off the stick of senior Jacob Peterson, he was assisted by Hogan Nemetz. The Redmen would pick it up in the second period from the face off circle, however the Redmen picked up four penalties giving the Eskymos eight minutes on the power play. Escanaba would capitalize on the power play, Nick Kolich found the back of the net on the man advantage, cutting the lead back to one. Marquette returned the favor minutes later. Hogan Nemetz would find the net this time, apple came from freshman, Jacob Garrow.

Marquette found a groove in the third period. The Redmen tack on three goals to crack the game open 6-1. The first goal came from Evan Kroll, assist from Dylan Baldwin and Joseph Luke. Baldwin would later score on an assist from Kroll and Luke. Luke found the net also, Owen Riipi on the pass. The Redmen outshot the Eskymos 47-18.

The Redmen are back in action Friday, December 6th on Fox Sports Marquette. Pregame starts at 6:30, puck drop at 7:00 pm!
