Marquette Hockey Steamrolls Stoney Creek, 6-0

Marquette, MINovember 23, 2019 – The Marquette Redmen Varsity Hockey team claimed a 6-0 victory over the Rochester Hills Stoney Creek Cougars this afternoon on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and 103 FXD.

It was a subdued start for the Redmen compared to last night’s blistering opener. Rochester Hills Stoney Creek (SC) was initially much more up to the task than Rochester Hills Adams as well. Marquette still managed to strike first with a power play goal late in the period. Gaetano Cammarata found the back of the net with help from Jakob Peterson and Lucas Guertin to take the lead at 1-0 over the Cougars.

Redmen goalie Liam Beerman was put to the test late in the first period against a peppering of shots on goal from the Cougars. Beerman was able to protect the goal well and protect the Redmen lead going into the second period.

The Redmen look great for their 2019-20 season.

A short-handed Redmen goal opened the second period. Gaetano Cammarata buried the puck with an assist from Jakob Peterson and Cooper Anderson to bring the score to 2-0 over the Cougars. The momentum shifted firmly in the favor of Marquette from the second period on.

Andrew Fedrizzi followed up with another power play goal, assisted by Dylan Baldwin, to improve the Redmen to 3-0.  Another Redmen goal followed in short order as Cooper Anderson fed the puck to Cammarata for a score of 4-0 late in the second period.

A Cooper Anderson goal, assisted by Fedrizzi and  Jack Sides, early in the third period helped solidify the Redmen victory, improving Marquette to 5-0. A final goal from Anderson late in the period solidified their 6-0 win and made for a great start to the 2019-2020 season.

The Redmen will be back in action on Tuesday, November 26th against the Houghton Gremlins. Tune in to Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and 103 FXD at 6:30 pm for the pregame show. The puck drops at 7:00 pm!
