Detroit, MI – February 1, 2025 – The Marquette High School Hockey Sentinels took the ice, determined to bounce back from last night’s tough loss against the Trenton Trojans. With renewed energy and focus, Marquette High School Hockey set out to showcase their skill against the Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes in the next round of the Trenton Hockey Showcase. Fans tuned in live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, where Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey brought every thrilling moment of the game to life.
Game Recap
First Period
Both teams came out strong, keeping the pace high and the defenses locked in. Despite aggressive plays on both sides, neither team was able to find the back of the net. Marquette High School Hockey showed noticeable improvements from their last game, playing with more intensity and focus.

Second Period
The Aho line came close to breaking the deadlock, but the Cranbrook goalie made a key save to keep the game scoreless. On defense, Belcowski stepped up, making a great play to stop Cranbrook from maintaining control in Marquette High School Hockey’s zone. However, a shorthanded goal slipped past Cole Kelly, giving Cranbrook the first lead of the night. Marquette High School Hockey kept up the pressure, generating multiple solid scoring chances, but couldn’t capitalize before the period ended.
Score: Marquette 0 – 1 Cranbrook
Third Period
Marquette’s persistence finally paid off when Trey Savala found the back of the net to tie the game. Moments later, Jack Pond appeared to give Marquette High School Hockey the lead, but the goal was waved off, causing some confusion on the ice. With four minutes left, Cranbrook extended their lead with a power-play goal that left no chance for Cole Kelly to make a save. Despite a relentless effort in the final minutes, Marquette High School Hockey was unable to mount a comeback.
Final Score: Marquette 0 – 2 Cranbrook
