Marquette, MI – May 3, 2019 – The Marquette Redmen football team and Marquette Redettes volleyball team are each coming off Great Northern Conference Championships in 2018-2019. Today, new coaches for both programs were announced.
After former coaches Dave L’Huillier (football) and Mike Morgan (volleyball) stepped down, the respective programs will have new leadership moving forward.
Eric Mason was announced today as the new head coach for the Marquette football team. Mason has served as the Marquette Freshmen Football Coach since 2010. In 2018 he led the freshmen to an undefeated season, which included beating many JV programs during the regular season. Said MSHS Athletic Director Alex Tiseo “Eric has demonstrated the absolute highest level of commitment to the well-being and development of our students.”
In addition to his time coaching at MSHS Mason has served as a long-time coach for the Special Olympics and coached within the Marquette County Youth Football program for 11 years.
Mason is a an Escanaba High School and Northern Michigan University graduate, and former football player at both institutions.
Ann Crandell-Williams was also announced as the new head volleyball coach at Marquette Senior High School. Crandell-Williams has been the co-varsity volleyball coach at Munising with her husband since the 2017 season. She helped the Mustang team reach the state semifinals and also helped the 2018 team reach the regional championship. The varsity record over the two-year span of her being a coach at Munising is 48-17-10.
Crandell-Williams was a volleyball student-athlete at Lake Superior State University and was a two-year team captain during her time. Crandell-Williams said that she is a part of the Marquette community and is excited about the opportunity to help the young women not only grow as volleyball players, but as individuals as well.
Crandell-Williams is a graduate of Brimley High School, and was a two-year All-State selection in volleyball.
