Marquette extended their lead shortly after the start of the second period when the Redmen caught the Reps on a line change and generated an odd-man rush, which led to Sean O’Connor’s second goal of the afternoon.  The rest of the period passed without a goal being scored, and after two periods, Marquette had a 4-1 lead.

The Reps were able to cut Marquette’s lead to two goals early in the third period, but they couldn’t muster another goal for the rest of the game.  Marquette sealed their victory at the 16:03 mark, when Kobie Guidebeck put the puck into an empty net to make the final score 5-2.
