Marquette Redmen Basketball Falls to Menominee Maroons, Final Score 57-51
- Updated: March 5, 2021

Menominee, MI – March 5, 2021 – The Marquette Redmen basketball team fought bravely but ultimately shouldered a tough loss against the Menominee Maroons tonight on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
The Redmen put points on the board first after a long minute-and-a-half possession to start things off in the opening quarter of the game. The Maroons answered quickly as the pace of the game took off, the atmosphere electric in the early going.
Aidan Bellisle had seven of the nine points of the Maroons’ ensuing 9-0 run to take the lead at 9-2 and three minutes to go in the quarter. The Redmen caught up with a couple of buckets of their own to slash the Menominee lead to 9-6. However, the Maroons held on to a 13-9 lead going into the second period.
The second quarter started with a bucket from each team, but the early going was low-scoring despite the palpable energy in the gym. A questionable call against Marquette cost the Redmen a few points, but David Eberhard came right back and put up a double to help make some headway on the Maroons’ lead.

Jordan DeMay went on a little solo run to help the Redmen take the lead at 23-20. Marquette would take a tight 25-24 lead into the half.
The Maroons retook the lead at the top of the third quarter, but not for long. The Redmen edged back out front briefly, though the score settled at 29-29 in the early going.
Menominee enjoyed a bit of a momentum swing with a 39-31 lead after a little scoring run. Justin Jurmu put up a double to improve the Redmen deficit to 39-33. However, the Maroons took off with their largest lead of the game thus far, out in front by 13 points.
Kam Karp and Sager were able to put up a couple of buckets to help with the Redmen deficit in response to the Menominee pressure. The score settled at 47-38 though as the Maroons took a healthy lead into the fourth.
The Redmen cut the Maroon lead to just three in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, the score 47-44. The Maroons would not give up though and took off again with a nine-point lead. Eberhard came up with a clutch triple for the Redmen to make it 55-49 and just a couple minutes to go in the game.
Despite the effort from Marquette, Menominee gave up little ground in the waning minutes of the period. The Redmen spirit was evident throughout tonight’s tough match-up, but the Maroons would take home the 57-51 win.
The Redmen will be back in action against the Houghton Gremlins Tuesday, March 9th on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9. Tune in at 6:30 PM for the pregame show, tip off is at 7:00 PM.
