Marquette Redmen Advance To Regional Final After Win Against Midland 54-48

Traverse City, MI March 30, 2021 The 13-5 Redmen are looking to continue their journey to a Regional Title and to the much bigger prize in the MHSAA Division 1 Championship. Standing in their way is the 10-5 Midland Chemics. The game was broadcast live on both Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and 103FXD!

First Half: The Redmen started the game strong with Ty Lotterman putting up the first points of the game. Marquette would go on a 9-0 run against the Chemics. Drew Barrie for Midland almost single handidly kept his team in the game. Barrie put up a three-point shot to bring the Marquette lead down to, 11-5.

Lincoln Sager for Marquette would kick things off in the second quarter by sending home a long range shot. Teammate Kam Karp would match the shot and bring the Redmen up, 21-7 their largest lead of the half. Barrie for the Chemics would however once again keep Midland in the game with a 3-pointer. Barrie had scored all of Midlands 10 points while they trailed, 21-10. Midland was able to fight back before the half and close their deficit to seven.

Second Half: Drew Barrie started things off for the Chemics in the second half. He put up back-to-back three’s to close the Marquette lead to only one. David Eberhard for the Redmen would try to fend off the Chemics by putting Marquette back up by three. The Chemics would however take the lead with Drew Barrie hitting a three plus a foul to cash in on a four-point play and give his team the lead. Midland led by as much as seven until the Redmen battled back to end the quarter with the game tied up at 41 a piece.

Lincoln Sager would drain a three to start the final eight minutes of play and give Marquette the lead back. Ty Lotterman would put up another four points for the Redmen and continue to build their lead. The Marquette defense was finally able to contain Drew Barrie and the Chemics to maintain their lead and punch their ticket to the regional finals!
