Marquette, MI – May 18, 2018 – The Marquette Redettes softball team split their doubleheader against the Kingsford Flivvers on Friday night, falling 6-1 in the first game before exploding for a 13-4 win in the second. Both games were defensively focused, although you wouldn’t know it from the final scores.
In the first game, Marquette took an early 1-0 lead in the opening inning, but the Flivvers scored four runs in the third to take a commanding lead. The Redettes would fail to find a way to recover, and dropped the first leg of the doubleheader 6-1. The second game saw Marquette get their bats going, something that Kingsford was ill prepared for. The Redettes had a monster second inning, leaping out to a 9-2 lead and taking complete control of the game. From there there was no stopping Marquette, and they rolled to a blowout 13-4 victory.
