Marquette, MI – February 6th, 2018 – The Marquette Redettes took the court this evening defeating the Houghton Gremlins in overtime with a final score of: 54-50.
It was Parent’s Day here in Marquette as the Marquette Redettes took on the Houghton Gremlins in a stunning game that pushed into overtime.
The Redettes early on in the game pushed a lead over Houghton with 8 unanswered points in the second frame after the first frame saw no scoring for the first 5 minutes. The Redettes dominated the first half with a leading score of 30-21.
The second half had the Gremlins pushing back against the Redettes and they came back with a 15 nothing run against Marquette as they surged into the lead by a single point at the end of the third frame 37-36 Houghton. 
In the 4th quarter both teams played a stellar defense and the game got really tight as the closing moments came near. With 30 seconds to play in the game the Redettes took possession of the ball with a game score of 46-47 Houghton with the chance to take victory, and took 3 shots, and missed all 3 shots thanks to some great defensive rebounding by Marquette they had multiple chances to score, however futile, luck was in store as Avery Ledy was fouled and took to the line for two free throws, missing one and sinking the second to send the game into overtime.
The Redettes out scored the Gremlins in OT 7-3 to take the game W with a final score of 54-50.
