Marquette Boys Varsity Captures 8-1 Win Over Iron Mountain Thursday

Marquette, MI – September 1, 2022 – The Marquette boys varsity soccer team traveled to Iron Mountain Thursday night and captured an 8-1 win.

Marquette opened the game with three goals in the first seven minutes. Senior Max Dawson opened the scoring off an Evan Sysko (senior) pass. Senior Isaac johnson made the score 2-0 off a Dawson assist before Dawson scored again on an unassisted goal. Iron Mountain’s Will Fairchild cut the lead to 3-1 at the 25 minute mark. Senior Ezra Pickard scored with five minutes remaining in the first half off a Dawson assist and a 4-1 halftime lead. In the second half, sophomore Kaleb Chipelewski scored from a sophomore Jack Sysko pass followed by Dawson getting the hat trick from Pickard. Junior Alexi Caron made the score 7-1 off a free kick from 47 yards out. Evan Sysko finished the scoring with an assist going to sophomore Noah Bell. Sophomore keeper Edan Hautamaki faced 4 shots in the first half and 2 in the second half.

Marquette is 7-2-1 on the season and host Kingsford on Tuesday.
