Marquette, MI – August 13th, 2026 – Lindsey Majkrzak took over Northern Michigan women’s lacrosse in 2020 and helped turn the Wildcats into one of the GLIAC’s top programs.
After steady improvement, NMU broke through in 2023 with an 11-7 record and the first GLIAC Tournament win in program history, earning Majkrzak Coach of the Year honors. The Wildcats set a program record with 14 wins in 2024 and added 11 wins in 2025.
In her final season in 2026, Northern Michigan went 13-6 and reached the GLIAC Championship game for the third time. Following the season, Majkrzak left to join her husband, Matt, at Northern Illinois and has since been named head women’s lacrosse coach at Lake Forest College.
With Majkrzak’s departure, Northern Michigan began its search for the third head coach in program history, eventually landing on Adam Dobis. Dobis comes to Marquette from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he spent the previous four seasons leading the Pipers at the NCAA Division III level. During his time at Hamline, Dobis compiled a 29-33 overall record and a 12-17 conference mark, including a 10-6 record during his final season.
Dobis brings extensive experience as both a player and coach. During his playing career at the University of Indianapolis, he served as a four-year team captain and helped lead the Greyhounds to back-to-back GLVC Tournament Championships in 2018 and 2019. The 2019 season was especially memorable, as Indianapolis reached the NCAA Division II Final Four for the first time in program history.
After his playing career, Dobis transitioned into coaching at his alma mater. As an assistant with the Greyhounds, he helped Indianapolis post a 24-7 record, make back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, earn a share of the 2022 GLVC Regular Season Championship and capture the 2021 GLVC Tournament title. His responsibilities included tactical film analysis, individual player development, travel coordination and regional recruiting. Now, Dobis takes over a Northern Michigan program that has established itself as a consistent contender in the GLIAC and will look to build on the foundation established during Majkrzak’s tenure.
“I cannot wait to begin the next chapter in my head coaching journey at Northern Michigan University, and to start working alongside our outstanding student-athletes,” Dobis said. “From the moment I stepped on campus at NMU, I could really feel the togetherness of the community and the athletic department. I look forward to building relationships with my new team and fellow coaches and support staff, embracing new challenges, and competing in the GLIAC conference.

Northern Michigan Athletic Director Rick Comley said Dobis experience and approach made him the right person to lead the Wildcats into the next chapter.

Dobis now inherits a program coming off three consecutive seasons of at least 11 wins and a 2026 GLIAC Championship Game appearance, giving the new head coach a strong foundation as he begins his tenure in Marquette.
