Marquette, MI – 11/16/17 –  The Northern Michigan Wildcats Hockey team is on its way to Alaska to begin a four-game road trip. The Wildcats are currently ranked #20 in the nation. They begin the road trip taking on Alaska-Fairbanks on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats are coming off a weekend split with rival Michigan Tech. Wildcat senior forward Robbie Payne scored a pair of goals last Saturday and with those two goals it gives him nine on the season, good for third in the country. Payne’s 12 points are also fourth best in the conference. Northern Michigan sits at 6-4 on the year and 4-2 in the WCHA.

The Detroit Red Wings came away with a big victory last night that included lots of goal scoring and hay-makers as well. Near the end of the game in the third period the Red Wings and Calgary Flames ensued in a brawl in Detroit’s 8-2 victory. Detroit’s Luke Witkowski got into a scuffle and all hell broke loose, Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha ended up fighting with Calgary’s Travis Hamonic, giving Mantha a fight to go along with his 2 goals and an assist, good enough for a Gordie Howe Hat Trick. The Red Wings take to the ice this Friday against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Pistons have gotten off to a hot start but they hit a bump in the road last night falling to the Milwaukee Bucks 99-95. The Bucks were led by Kris Middleton who finished with 27 points and 8 assists. The Pistons were led by Avery Bradley who had 28 points for a season high. The Pistons now take to the road to take on the Indiana Pacers on Friday, Detroit beat them earlier in the year 114-97.
