Tigers Lose Series, Lions Get Their Man and Green Bay Trades

Marquette, MI – The Detroit Tigers dropped their second straight series losing to the Seattle Mariners 2-1 on Thursday afternoon. Mariners Kyle Seager had a double in the ninth to lead-off when Ben Gamel came up to bat to knock him in to take the lead and eventually the game. Tigers Justin Verlander was solid going seven innings allowing one unearned run giving up five hits, walking two and striking out seven. Detroit drops to 10-10 on the season. They now shift their focus to the Chicago White Sox who they begin a three game weekend series tonight starting at 7:10 pm tonight.
The Detroit Lions held the 21st overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft last night and ended up with the man they wanted. The Lions selected the 6-foot-1 linebacker from Florida University Jarrad Davis. Davis played nine games last year, making 60 tackles adding two sacks. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds and had a 38 1/2- inch vertical during the combine. He will replace former Lion Deandre Levy.
The Green Bay Packers decided to trade their 29th pick the the 2017 NFL Draft to the Cleveland Browns. The Packers received the 33rd overall pick in the second round and the 108th pick in the third round. Cleveland wound up taking Jabrill Peppers, safety from the University of Michigan with the pick from the Packers.
