Tigers Lose In 9th, Brewers Split and Mike Plourde

Marquette, MI – 6/14/17 – Tigers closer Justin Wilson came into the ninth inning and on the first pitch Arizona Diamondbacks David Peralta sent the ball into the seats in a 7-6 victory. The Tigers were down four nothing early as the Diamondbacks lead grew to a 6-0 lead in the third. The Tigers came back in the sixth with a six run rally that included a home run from JD Martinez. The Tigers will send Jordan Zimmermann to the bump tonight in the final game of the series. Zimmermann is 5-4 with a 5.72 ERA and he will go up against Arizona’s Taijuan Walker who is 4-3 this season with a 3.46 ERA. The first pitch at Comerica Park will be at 7:10 pm.
The Milwaukee Brewers played a double-header yesterday against the St.Louis Cardinals. The Brewers lost game one 6-0 on the bat of Cardinals outfielder Jose Martinez who added two home runs and a later added a sacrifice fly which brought in a run. Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn struck out eight. In game two the Brewers used back to back home runs from Keon Broxton and Travis Shaw to come out with a 8-5 victory. Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson went 5 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and striking out four.
Ishpeming Hematite play by play announcer Mike Plourde stopped in this morning to talk about the UP All-Star Football Game next Saturday at the Superior Dome. The Game will be on Saturday, June 24th starting at 1 pm.
