Tigers, Blaise Zimmer and College Football
- Updated: September 6, 2016
Marquette, MI – Miguel Cabrera reached yet another milestone with the Tigers this past weekend recording his 300th homerun as a Tiger. Justin Verlander eclipsed the 200 strikeout plateau and Francisco Rodriguez moved up to 4th all time on the saves list among many great closers. The Tigers have won 11 of the last 14 games they’ve played. Wining three out of the past four against the Royals and Chicago White Sox. Detroit is 4.5 games back in the Central and tied for the Final Wild Card spot heading into the game this evening against Chicago. The game begins at 8:10pm with Matt Boyd taking the mound against Chicago’s Miguel Gonzalez.
Blaise Zimmer stopped by to chime in on the Marquette Redmen football team and the schools athletic goals for this year. We talked about the student athlete and coach connection and how it helps young students grow. The Marquette Redmen Varsity football team will face Sault Ste. Marie this Friday in the Superior Dome at 8pm. The game can be found on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and 99.9 as well as 103FXD for Big Game of the Week.
College football is in full swing and opening week was nothing short of amazing. We had Michigan blowing out Hawaii 63-3 at the Big House. Michigan State played Furman and barely squeaked by winning 28-13. The biggest upset so far this young college season was unranked Wisconsin beating the #5 ranked LSU Tigers at Lambeau Field 16-13 in a thriller of a game. The Big Ten is full of talent and the 2016-2017 is off to a great competitive start.
