The Sports Drive: Week 6 High School Football Preview
- Updated: September 28, 2018

Marquette, MI – September 28, 2018 – We are past the halfway point in the high school football season as it rolls into Week 6. Luke and Mark previewed some marquee Week 6 matchups today on the one-hour edition of the Sports Drive.
Negaunee must win out in order to clinch an automatic playoff berth. The final stretch of the season for the Miners begins tonight on homecoming as they welcome in the L’Anse Purple Hornets for the first time since 1947. Mark caught up with Miners’ head coach Paul Jacobson about last week’s loss to Ishpeming and the focus on L’Anse this week.
the Marquette Redmen suffered a heartbreaking loss to Petoskey on Saturday in their homecoming game. Marquette fell 17-14 to fall to 2-3 on the season. Like Negaunee, Marquette must win out to clinch an automatic postseason berth. The task is tall tonight in Kingsford, as one team will leave 2-0 in one of the toughest conferences in the UP. Luke caught up with Redmen head coach Dave L’Huillier to find out what Marquette needs to do to beat the Flivvers.
Unlike Negaunee and Marquette, the Ishpeming Hematites need just one more win to clinch a playoff berth. The Hematites are 5-0 after defeating their rivals Westwood and Negaunee in consecutive weeks. The Hematites turn their attention to Gwinn tonight, a team that started 4-0 but was devastated by injuries in a loss last week. Luke and Mark talked with Hematite’s head coach Jeff Olson about how his team can continue to roll.
