The Sports Drive: John Thomsen + Joe Gaffney Preview Marquette Hockey Semifinal

Marquette, MI – March 7, 2019 – March is in full swing. Basketball and hockey tournaments. Upsets and great finishes. It has all been here in the first week, and it will continue on Thursday night.

The Marquette Redmen hockey team have reached the Final Four in the Division 2 state tournament. The Redmen play Trenton tonight in the state semifinal for the right to play in Saturday’s State Championship. John Thomsen and Joe Gaffney, the voices of the Marquette Redmen, joined the Sports Drive to talk about the run to this point and what the Redmen need to do tonight to get the chance to play Saturday.

The Gwinn Modeltowners girls basketball team will play Westwood in a district championship Friday night after beating Ishepming at the last second in overtime. Head coach Ben Olsen joined Luke on the Sports Drive talking about the emotions of the semifinal win, and the tough test that looms hosting the U.P.’s number 1 team on Friday night.
