The Sports Drive: George Niemi Previews Major WestPAC Battle
- Updated: October 10, 2019

Marquette, MI – October 10, 2019 – The Ishpeming Hematites sit at 4-2 and the West Iron County Wykons sit at 5-1 in the regular season, respectively. But both teams losses have come in conference-crossover games that do not count against their WestPAC Iron records. Thus, both teams are 4-0 in the WestPAC Iron and when they meet Friday night, it is essentially a conference championship bout.
Ishpeming Hematites head coach George Niemi joined the Sports Drive today to discuss the overtime win and how needed it was after dropping 2 straight. Niemi also gives some insight into what to expect Friday night when Ishpeming and West Iron meet at the Playgrounds.
The Michigan Wolverines are coming off a victory over a Top-15 opponent in Iowa, but few are talking about that. Many want to know what is the reason for Michigan’s stagnant offense after scoring just 10 points in the win. David Noe of MaizenBrew.com joined the Sports Drive to try and give some answers.
