The Sports Drive: Football Friday Week 4 High School Preview

Marquette, MI – September 14, 2018 – Week 4 of the high school football season is already upon us. No better way to get you ready for your weekend than with a Football Friday edition of the Sports Drive.
Jeff Olson’s Ishpeming Hematites are 3-0 and taking on cross-town rival Westwood Patriots tonight in Westwood. Coach Olson joined Luke and Mark on the Sports Drive recapping his team’s win against Norway last week and previewing his matchup with Ishpeming. The Marquette Redmen are fresh off their first victory after beating Sault Ste Marie last Friday night 42-20. Ethan Martysz had 4 touchdown receptions in the Marquette win. Head Coach Dave L’Huillier joined the Sports Drive talking about what it meant to get Martysz back, and what it will take to beat Escanaba tonight in their conference opener. The Gwinn Modeltowners are 3-0 for the first time since 1998. The Modeltowners were victorious in their matchup with Lake Linden Hubbell this past Saturday. Modeltowner’s coach Dion Brown talked with Luke and Mark about his program’s first 3-0 start in 20 years and what his team needs to do Friday night at Hancock (2-1) to make it 4-0.
The Negaunee Miners improved to 2-2 on the season on Monday after their scheduled opponent, the Manistique Emeralds, had to forfeit due to a lack of healthy players. Negaunee has now notched wins in consecutive weeks. Paul Jacobson, Miners’ head coach, talked with Luke and Mark about his practice plans for a now off week and his team’s preparations for a big showdown with Ishpeming next week.
