The Sports Drive: Escanaba Brings State Championship Home; Carl Martin Talks About His Book “The Booster”
- Updated: June 18, 2018

Marquette, MI – June 18, 2018 – The Escanaba Eskymos softball team earned their third consecutive trip to Michigan State University for the MHSAA Softball semi-finals and finals over the weekend. After being eliminated in the semi-finals the two previous years, the Eskymos finally broke through and captured that elusive state title on Saturday with a 5-0 win over South Haven. Head Coach Jamie Segorski joined the Sports Drive to talk about bringing a state championship to the UP.
The “Fab Five” is arguably the most famous group of college athletes of all time. The five Michigan basketball players took the Wolverines to national titles as freshman and sophomores. They were also involved in a scandal where they were paid by Michigan booster Ed Martin. Carl Martin, son of Ed Martin, joined the Sports Drive to talk about his book “The Booster” which details his father and exposes how NCAA athletes are exploited.
Tune into the Sports Drive weekdays from 3-5pm on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 – 99.9 and online at foxsportsmarquette.com
