Marquette, MI – August 20, 2021 – For the first time since 2019, the Ishpeming Hematites will play a varsity football game next Friday night. And for the third straight season, the Hematites will have a new head coach. Cody Kugler is taking over at the helm for George Niemi who stepped down last year before the Hematites varsity season was cancelled due to Covid. Kugler joined the Sports Drive today to talk about taking the reigns, and his team.
“The Intercollegiate” is a Division I College golf tournament held at Sage Run Golf Course over labor day weekend. This will be the 2nd annual, after beginning in 2019 and being forced to cancel due to Covid in 2020. 2021 U.S. Amateur Champion James Piot will be competing representing Michigan State University, and a handful of other programs will be competing as well. Island Resort & Casino GM Tony Mancilla joined the show to discuss the Labor Day weekend fun.
