- Updated: February 19, 2020

Marquette, MI – February 19, 2020 – Tuesday night was highlighted by some marquee high school basketball matchups around the U.P. The Gwinn Modeltowners girls basketball team defeated Negaunee 37-29 last night to split the season series. It was a quick turnaround for Gwinn following the 1-point loss to Westwood Monday night. Gwinn will see Negaunee in the first round of the districts.
Marquette and Negaunee will battle it out as the #2 (Negaunee) and #3 (Marquette) boys basketball teams in the I.P. Thursday night at MSHS. The battle for the Victors Cup will have big implications for the Redmen who are in a tight race with Traverse City Central for the 1-seed in District 1.
