
Marquette, MI – 11/29/17 – The Marquette Redmen Hockey team opened up their season last week with a 3-2 victory over Houghton at Dee Stadium. Last night the Redmen came out victorious again with a 4-0 victory over the Escanaba Eskymos in Escanaba. The Redmen got goals from Nick Leafers, Sean O’Connor, Joe Phillips and Tanner Phillips. The star of the night was goalie Tyler Bergwall who had 14 saves in his first shutout of the season. The Redmen return to action on Friday when they head to Sault Ste Marie to take on Utica Eisenhower at 6 pm.
The Detroit Red Wings are in a mad struggle as they dropped their fifth straight game to the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 at home on Tuesday night. The Red Wings scored their only goal coming off an assist from Frans Neilson to Mike Green. The Kings forward Anze Kopitar scored two goals and had an assist in the victory. The Kings are currently on a two game win streak.
The college football playoff rankings came out on Tuesday afternoon with the Clemson Tigers atop the ranks. The number two team is Auburn followed by Oklahoma and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Badgers have spent the entire season outside of the top four and with a 12-0 record have a chance to stay in the top four with a victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes this Saturday in the Big Ten Championship.
