Marquette, MI – 9/5/17 – The Marquette Redmen football team had a tough task on Friday night as they welcomed in the Traverse City Central Trojans. Andrew Gale led the Redmen on the ground running for 68 yards. Trojans quarterback Tobin Schwannecke was the star of the night throwing 16-20 for 153 yards and a couple touchdowns. The Redmen now look to this coming Friday as they travel to Sault Ste. Marie for a Great Northern Conference match-up.
The Michigan Wolverines came out sluggish in their first game of the season but a strong second half led them to a 33-17 victory over the Florida Gators. Michigan went into halftime trailing 17-13, but scored three times in the first six minutes of the second half. Wolverines Wilton Speight was 11 of 23 with 181 yards and a score. The Wolverines now look to their home opener this coming Saturday in the first ever match-up with the Cincinnati Bearcats.
