Red Wings Streak Ends At 25, Pistons Buzzed and Trevor Thompson

John Thomsen, Trevor Thompson, Ryan Ranguette and Redmen Hockey Coaches

Marquette, MI – The Detroit Red Wings have been the most consistent team in the NHL for the past 25 years. The Wings have made 25 straight playoff appearances and with last nights 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, this will be the first time in a quarter of a century, the Wings will not make the playoffs. The 25 season streak had been the longest active professional streak which came along with 4 Stanley Cups. The Red Wings will now look forward to a new arena and an off-season that’s sure to bring a new look to the team. The Red Wings will face the Tampa Bay Lightening on Thursday night in Florida.

The Detroit Pistons lost yet again for the 5th straight time and second time in three games to a buzzer beater. Hassan Whiteside knocked down the buzzer beater Tuesday night as the Miami Heat downed the Pistons 97-96. The win was huge for Miami as they moved one game ahead of Chicago and 2 1/2 games ahead of the Pistons for the final playoff spot in the East. The Pistons will now host the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.

Trevor Thompson from Fox Sports Detroit joined us this morning talking Tigers baseball and Red Wings hockey. The talk went over the whole Tigers team including fielders, relief pitchers and the rotation. We also covered the history of the Red Wings the past 25 years and Trevor talked about his appearances with the team and Joe Louis Arena. We would like to thank Mr.Thompson for taking the time out of his day to talk Detroit sports.
