Penguins Hoist Cup, Tigers Are Pesky And Wally Rauvala

Marquette, MI – 6/12/17 – Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby lifted Lord Stanley’s Cup over his head for the third time in his career and the second straight season. The Penguins defeated the Nashville Predators four games to two with a 2-0 victory Sunday night. The Penguins become the first team in almost two decades to win back to back Stanley Cups. The Last team was the 97-98 Detroit Red Wings. Penguins Patric Hornqvist scored the winning goal with 1:35 left in the third period and former Michigan Wolverine Carl Hagelin scored the empty netter to secure the victory.
The Detroit Tigers were pesky on Sunday night as Tigers outfielder Justin Upton hit a grand slam off of the Pesky Pole in right field to lead Detroit to a 8-3 victory. Tigers starter Daniel Norris had a solid outing giving up two runs in five innings of work while striking out six. Red Sox infielder Hanley Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia provided all of the offense for Boston. The Tigers will being a series with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Southside Automotive’s owner Wally Rauvala stopped in this morning to talk about his career at Sands Speedway as a racer. Wally also is a big Detroit Tigers fan and talked about what he thinks about this years Tigers team and what possible moves they will have to make this year to make a run in the playoffs.
