Marquette, MI – NFL Sunday kicked off yesterday and it was nothing short of spectacular. The Green Bay Packers were in a dog fight in the heat down in Jacksonville. Aaron Rodgers had his main man and big target back, Mr. Jordy Nelson. The Packers offense was strong and the defense made stops when it needed too. The Packers squeaked out a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-23 in a last minute thriller as Jacksonville couldn’t covert a 4th down on the 15 yard line with :12 seconds left. The Packers head to Minnesota next Sunday night for an 8:30pm game.

The Detroit Lions played well but almost blew the game in the fourth quarter after a missed extra point try from Matt Prater. With under a minute left Matthew Stafford was the captain of the offense and was steering the ship as he took them down the filed to kick a field goal to win the game. Stafford had many great passes in the game and the defense played sub par after the first half. The Lions played tough and over came a mistake to win 39-35 in Indianapolis. The Lions are headed home to play the Tennessee Titans next Sunday at 1pm.

The Detroit Tigers lost 2 of 3 games this weekend against the Baltimore Orioles and are now 2 games back in the Wild Card Race. Justin Verlander was given minimal run support on Sunday and took the loss in the rubber game. The Tigers will take on the Minnesota Twins in a four game series beginning tonight at 8:10.

Doug Garrow stopped by to talk about Kraft Hockeyville USA and all the events that are going to be coming to Marquette beginning in October. The Tickets will be put in a raffle tomorrow September 13th, tickets are not for sale and as long as you register you have a chance to win them. The home of the game, Lakeview Arena, is undergoing a paint job and upgrades for the big hockey event. The game is October 4th at Lakeview as the Buffalo Sabres take on the Carolina Hurricanes.
