Mutineer Hockey, March Madness and Red Wings

Ryan Ranguette, Joey Enright and John Thomsen

Marquette, MI – The Marquette Mutineers in their first season have brought great hockey to Marquette. The Mutineers are replacing the Iron Rangers and so far they have lived up to all the hype going 11-10 in 21 games. The Mutineers have been led by Dallas McLaughlin and Joey Enright all year and look to pick up another two wins this weekend when they welcome in the Monroe Blues on Friday and then the Fond Du Lac Bears on Saturday. The Mutineers passed a liquor license as well, so adult drinks will be available for all home games. Tickets can be purchased at Lakeview Arena or at Great Lakes Radio.

March Madness kicked off yesterday with a lot of great games. Many teams moved on, but the main story was that their were no upsets. Today college basketball will begin at noon with the Michigan Wolverines taking on Oklahoma State, then tonight Michigan State will take on Miami. There is a total of 18 games today and many brackets are already busted, tonight we find out who moves on to the second round. All games can be found on CBS and ESPN, and for radio on Fox Sports.

The Detroit Red Wings got a big win last night over the Arizona Coyotes in a shootout 5-4. The Red Wings were led by captain Henrik Zetterberg who had a goal and an assist while goalie Petr Mrazek stopped 26 Coyote shots. Gustav Nyquist put it away for Detroit in the shootout who now improves to an NHL best 8-0 in shootouts. The Red Wings will be back on the ice Sunday when they host the Colorado Avalanche.
