Marquette Takes On Negaunee, National Championship And Spartan Talk

Marquette, MI – 1/8/18 – The Marquette Redettes girls basketball team will be in the biggest match-up of the season when they take on the undefeated Negaunee Miners at the Lakeview Gym. The Miners are 8-0 on the season and in their most recent victory over Manistique four Miners were in double figures. The Miners have been led by Natalie Bartle and Clara Johnson all season, both look to cause troubles tonight for Marquette. The Redettes are 8-0 on the season coming off their latest win against the Gwinn Modeltowners last Tuesday. Marquette also has a big game tomorrow when they welcome in the Escanaba Eskymos. Tonight’s tip will be at 7:30 pm.

The NCAA Football National Championship is tonight at 8 pm when the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama defeated the Clemson Tigers last week 24-6 in the Sugar bowl while the Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 54-48 in the Rose Bowl. The match-up will be teacher vs. student with Alabama’s Nick Saban and Georgia’s Kirby Smart, a former assistant to Saban. The game will be aired on ESPN with pre-game starting at 7 pm.

The Michigan State Spartans were ranked number one in the nation for one game as they lost the the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday afternoon in Ohio. The Buckeyes were led by Keita Bates-Diop who was 12-21 from the field, 2 of 4 from three point land and had a career high 32 points. The Spartans were led by Miles Bridges and Joshua Langford who had 17 points. The Spartans will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
