Marquette Redmen Hockey, Spartans Win And Michigan Wolverines

Marquette, MI – 12/29/17 – The Marquette Redmen Hockey team will be at home this weekend for the Marquette Showcase at Lakeview Arena. The Redmen will take on the Sault Ste Marie Blue Devils at 8 pm on Friday night and Saline at 3 pm on Saturday. Marquette is currently on a three game losing streak with losses to Hancock, Kingsford and Calumet. There will also be festivities this weekend starting at 4 pm on Friday with the Alumni Game and before the game Friday night, Marquette is honoring the 1988 State Championship team. Head coach Doug Garrow stopped by to talk about his team and the improvements they’ve made thus far this year.
The Michigan State Spartans beat Washington State 42-17 in the Holiday Bowl on Thursday night. Spartans quarterback Brian Lewerke passed for 213 yards and three touchdowns in the rout. Running back LJ Scott recorded his third game of over 100 yards this season and ninth of his career. Wide receiver Felton Davis had 4 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. The Spartans end the season with a 10-3 record, the eighth time in school history with 10 wins or more.
The Michigan Wolverines football team look to pick up a victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks this coming Monday in the Outback Bowl. Michigan and South Carolina both come into the game with an 8-4 record. The game will begin at noon on New Years Day at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
