Marquette Redmen Fall At Stadium Opener, Lemonade Monday
- Updated: October 17, 2016
Marquette, MI – Friday night in Marquette was special. William R. Hart Stadium opened up for the first time all season after work had begun four months ago. Marquette Senior High School spent over $600,000 to bring in a turf surface and enhance the high school football experience. The Redmen came in to the game jacked up but at the end of the night the scoreboard told a different story. The Negaunee Miners came out on top 32-0 and walked off the field with the Diamond Jubilee Trophy. The Redmen are currently 1-7 on the season and will be away this Friday when they head to Menominee.
The Detroit Lions picked up a win Sunday afternoon with a solid performance by quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford threw three touchdowns and in the final minutes Kicker Matt Prater kicked a 34 yard field goal breaking the tie and putting the Lions at 3-3 on the season.
The Green Bay Packer fan boo’s rained down on Sunday evening as they were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys. Aaron Rodgers and the offense struggled all afternoon and the defense couldn’t stop Cowboys rookie Dak Prescott who threw for three touchdowns and 247 yards. The Cowboys improve their record to 5-1 with the 30-16 win.
