Marquette, MI – The Marquette Redmen Baseball team welcomed in the Escanaba Eskymos yesterday afternoon for a friendly double-header. The last time these two had met, the Redmen came out on top, that was not the case on Wednesday night as the Eskymos stole two games, 3-1 in game one and 3-1 in game two. The standout player of the day for Marquette was pitcher Garret Finkbeiner going 5 2/3 innings while striking out eight batters.
The Detroit Tigers fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night 7-1. Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Godley who was recently called up from Triple-A allowed four hits in seven innings picking up the victory in just his second start in the Major Leagues this season. Nick Ahmed, Yasmany Thomas and Brandon Drury all homered for the Diamondbacks. The Tigers begin a three game series tonight against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starting at 10:05 pm. Michael Fulmer will get the start for the Tigers, he comes in with a 3-1 record that carries a 2.77 ERA. The Angels will counter with JC Ramirez who is 3-2 with a 3.74 ERA.
