- Updated: January 11, 2018
Marquette, MI – 1/11/18 – The Ishpeming Hemitites went into Lakeview Gym in Negaunee and came out with a 59-54 victory over the Negaunee Miners. The Hemitites were led by Darius Yohe who had a team high 24 points followed by Hart Holmgren who added 20. Negaunee Miners Jason Waterman lit up the basket with a game high 30 points on the night. Hemitites broadcaster Mike Plourde stopped by to talk about the energy and crowd at the game, he also mentioned it was the loudest basketball game he had been too in 15 years.
The Detroit Pistons came out victorious in a 114-80 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. The Pistons were led by Andre Drummond who had 22 points and 22 rebounds, it is his 16th game of his career with at-least 20 points and 20 rebounds. Pistons Tobias Harris followed up with 22 points. The Pistons will be back in action on Saturday to take on the Chicago Bulls in their final game of a three game road trip.
The Michigan State Spartans eked out a win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in overtime on Wednesday night 76-72. The Spartans were coming off a loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes and last time the Spartans played Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights gave them a run for their money, just like this game. The Scarlet Knights went into overtime with guard Corey Sanders taking over the ball and tying the game with one minute left. Sanders was injured on a layup play in which the Spartans took advantage since Sanders was no longer on the floor when State’s Josh Langford hit a three in the corner to seal the victory. Sanders ended up with 22 points. The Spartans were led by Nick Ward who had 17. The Spartans now welcome in the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday at the Breslin Center.
