Cowboys Win, Tigers Stop Streak And College Football Poll

Marquette, MI – 8/4/17 – The NFL preseason kicked off last night with the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals in Canton, Ohio. Dallas Cowboy Kellen Moore threw for 182 yards and a touchdown as the Cowboys won their first preseason game 20-18. The Cardinals were led by former Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, he finished with 185 yards passing and was 11 for 14 on attempts. Cowboys Rod Smith led the team in rushing with 64 yards on 18 carries. Starters on both teams did not play.
The Detroit Tigers seem to be on a roll after winning two straight series and yet picked up another victory last night 7-5 over the Baltimore Orioles who came in with a 5 game winning streak. Tigers pitcher Matt Boyd struggled walking four and being taken out in the fifth inning. Tigers outfielder Justin Upton had a big games once again driving in two runs and adding a home run to his stat sheet. Closer Shane Greene came on in the ninth to closeout the Tigers victory for his third straight save.
The Coaches Poll in College Football came out on Thursday. The rankings were based on points and tallied up the coaches picks for the top 25. The Alabama Crimson Tide ended up with the number one ranking while National Champion Clemson was ranked fifth. The Michigan Wolverines come in at number nine and the Wisconsin Badgers came in at number ten. The College football season started camp on Monday.
