Astros World Series Champs, The Silver Badger And Central Michigan
- Updated: November 2, 2017
Marquette, MI – 11/2/17 – The Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in game seven of the World Series to bring their first title to Houston. The MVP of the series was Astros outfielder George Springer who had a record five home-runs to go along with his .379 batting average. His eight extra base-hits were the most in a World Series and also became the first player in Major League history to homer four straight games in the World Series. Former Detroit Tiger Justin Verlander collected his first World Series ring to go along with his long list of accomplishments. Baseball now looks to the winter meetings in December and the start of spring training in February.
The Silver Badger Bill Tibor came in for his weekly NFL Picks. The standings are currently Ryan in first, Bill in second and Luke in third. The Silver Badger is a big Packers fan and for his special pick of the week he chose the Packers over the Lions on Monday night. Last week was the best week for Ryan, Bill and Luke as they all had over 10 wins. Tune in next Thursday for the NFL Picks of the week.
The Central Michigan Chippewas came away with the Cannon Trophy with a 35-28 victory over the Western Michigan Broncos on Thursday night. Central had fell behind and went into halftime down 21-7 but quarterback Shane Morris made some big plays to go along with big defensive stops and turnovers, Central Michigan pulled out a victory over its biggest rival. Morris was 12 of 30 passing for 243 yards but had a big 77-yard touchdown pass to Corey Willis with 2:37 left in the game to take the lead. The Chippewas now look to next Saturday as they take on another Michigan opponent in Eastern Michigan University.
