Marquette High School Hockey Secures Dominant Victory Against Kingsford!

Marquette, MI – January 16, 2025 – After an exhilarating weekend at the North/South Hockey Showcase, the Marquette Highschool Hockey Sentinels returned to The Kirkwood Ice Rink tonight. They put on a stellar performance against the Kingsford Flivvers. Fans were treated to every play on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, where Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey brought the action to life!

Game Recap

First Period:
Both teams came out strong, keeping fans on edge in this tightly contested matchup. Marquette struck first as Brody Sheldon found the back of the net with a low shot, assisted by Carter Beerling in his first game back after an October labrum surgery. What a way to make a return!

Score: Marquette 1 – 0 Kingsford

Second Period:
The tension carried into the second period with neither side finding a breakthrough for much of the time. Marquette extended their lead when Evan Mattila capitalized on a rebound for another goal. Kingsford managed to sneak one past Marquette goalie late in the period but couldn’t find another before time ran out.

Score: Marquette 2 – 1 Kingsford

Third Period:
Carter Beerling made it his game with a cannon of a shot, earning another goal and solidifying his comeback. Marquette’s offense dominated, adding two more goals before Easton Bal sealed the deal with a final shot in the last 46 seconds. The Sentinels skated away with a commanding 6-1 victory and a three-game winning streak!

Final Score: Marquette 6 – 1 Kingsford
