Marquette, Mi – May 13th, 2026 –After coming up short of their goals a season ago, the Northern Michigan Wildcats men’s hockey team has revealed its schedule for the 2026–27 season.
The Wildcats finished last year with a 3-29-2 record, with just one of those three wins coming at the Berry Events Center. Despite the struggles, Northern did deliver one unforgettable moment on January 24th, when they traveled to the MacInnes Student Ice Arena and upset rival Michigan Tech, who were ranked No. 19 in the nation at the time.
This season, the Wildcats will look to take a major step forward under a renewed focus on growth and development. The season begins October 2nd, when Northern hosts the Miami RedHawks for a two-game series before heading to East Lansing October 9-10, for a tough road matchup against Michigan State, one of the premier programs in the country. Northern wraps up non-conference play back at home October 16-17, against the Stonehill Skyhawks.
CCHA play begins October 30-31, with a road trip to face Augustana. The Wildcats then return home for back-to-back conference series against Minnesota State on November 6-7, and Bowling Green on November 13-14. Northern closes out November on the road with a trip to Big Rapids to take on Ferris State November 20-21.
December opens with one of the biggest rivalries in the CCHA as Northern and Michigan Tech begin the first of two home-and-home series. The Wildcats host the Huskies on December 4th, before traveling to Houghton the following night. Northern then returns home for its final series before the holiday break against Augustana December 11-12, before competing in the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off December 29-30.
The Wildcats return to action in January with a home series against the Bemidji State Beavers before hitting the road for a series against the LSSU Lakers. Northern and Michigan Tech will then meet again January 22-23, with the first game in Houghton and the second at the Berry Events Center. The Ferris State Bulldogs then visit Marquette for a series January 29-30.
February will be road-heavy for the Wildcats, beginning with a trip to Bowling Green February 5-6, followed by a series at Minnesota State February 12-13. Northern closes out the regular season at home February 26-27, against Lake Superior State.
The Mason Cup Playoffs are scheduled for March 5-13, with the NCAA Tournament set to follow later in March.
