Fans tuned in live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, where Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey delivered every moment of this intense matchup.
First Period
Both teams came out with high energy, setting a fast pace early. Trey Savala put Marquette High School Hockey on the board first, ripping a shot past the Brighton goalie to give the Sentinels the opening goal of the game.
Brighton answered shortly after with a deceptive rebound play. What looked like a simple bounce off the pads turned into a quick pass to a trailing Bulldog, who slipped the puck past Fin Scott to tie the game. The period closed with both teams locked in and trading pressure.
Score:
Marquette 1 – 1 Brighton
Second Period
The second period proved to be a tough one for Marquette. A rebound off Scott found its way back onto a Bulldog stick, giving Brighton the go-ahead goal. Brighton continued to press, capitalizing on their chances and adding two more goals before the period ended.
Despite efforts to regroup, Marquette High School Hockey struggled to slow Brighton’s momentum and headed into the final period needing a strong response.
Score:
Marquette 1 – 4 Brighton
Third Period
The Sentinels came out firing in the third, with both teams playing hard in a fast back-and-forth rhythm. Even as time ticked away, Marquette kept pushing for an opening. That breakthrough came when Seth Sandstrom found the back of the net, cutting into Brighton’s lead and giving fans hope for a late-game surge.
However, Brighton responded quickly. William Clement knocked the wind out of Marquette’s sails with another Bulldog goal, and Brighton followed it up with one more before the final buzzer. Despite the fight shown late, Marquette was unable to complete the comeback.
Final Score:
Marquette 2 – 6 Brighton
